A flipped classroom is a strategy of blended learning that does not use the traditional person to person approach to learning. In a flipped classroom, instructional material and learning is delivered online, outside of the classroom. I was introduced to flipped classrooms in high school when Broward County schools required high school students to take an online class to graduate. For me, the experience was definitely a new one as I was not used to doing work on a computer, being more of a hands on person. I believe that a flipped classroom may no be ideal for all types of learning, but comes with many advantages, like online distance learning. Some online courses, unlike the one I took with Broward County, are open educational resources. ILP "Participation - Teacher Interview"

For this  voice thread , I decided to not go on lnyda.com or MOOC because instead of testing something out for myself, I wanted to see what the professionals were actually doing. I interviewed a first grade teacher because I currently work close with that grade level and may be interested in teaching elementary one day. I was surprised by many of my discoveries of the educational technology being used in elementary school, and how it is fairly similar to some of the technology used in college. Take a look! https://voicethread.com/share/12396638/

Day 1 w/ Maggie Mae

Hello I am Maggie Mae. I am a fourth year student at The Florida State University, majoring in Family & Child Sciences with a minor in education. With my studies I hope to work with children and help them develop into the model citizens, who are able to succeed regardless of their background or what they come from. I currently work with the Boys & Girls Club as Assistant Site Coordinator to help mold students into their best selves. I directly handle about 20 1st and 2nd grade students while having to manage and govern about 90 students, ranging from kindergarten to 5th grade. Being a millennial I have a pretty decent history with working with technology in a educational setting. I believe I grew up during a great period because I got to experience a wide variety of technology in school. From big white mac books, overhead projectors, to laptop carts and now tablets I feel like I have seen it all. I now use technology in my place of work educating my students by getting l...
