Twitter Experience 4,

My early experience using Twitter for this EME course has honestly opened my eyes to a new world. In the beginning I used twitter for personal use, and to communicate with other students in my area, for surface level conversations, about stupid things. However, with my new Twitter, I have realized it can actually be used at a professional level, to communicate with other professionals to brainstorm ideas to improve your work. So far, I have been interacting with my classmates and the EME account. Conversing with these groups of people so far, has enlightened me to new resources that can help me when working with children in the future. What has been especially beneficial is that the EME account forces me to think about my experience with technology that I have not considered, or thought about. I believe that in my future career, Twitter can be beneficial by giving me resources and tips on how to progress myself in my profession, as well as progress the organization that I work for.

The digital divide is a term that has been used to discuss the gap between individuals who do and do not have access to technology. The digital divide affects students in school by putting a split between students who have more or less access to technology. Some students are more fortune and have smartphones on their person daily, and even more access to technology at home, while other students may not have access to technology constantly or even in their homes. As a classroom teacher, I may be faced with a similar situation where some students may have access to technology to do their homework, while others may not. This will affect my teaching strategy by having to accommodate for students who do not have access to technology at their homes. Instead of giving homework that requires students to access technology at home, I would give students assignments in class to work and get familiar with technology. This class time to work will allow all the students the same opportunity and chance to improve their skills.

Two academic tools that I would implement to my future class would be MobyMax and Achieve3000. Both MobyMax and Achieve3000 are online resources that allow students to practice and review material they learned in class during lesson. Moby Max fixes learning gaps with the power of personalized learning by giving instructors the opportunity to create and individualized education plan for each student. Moby Max allows students to work on reading, math, science, social studies, and more. Achieve 3000 is a resource that allows students to freshen up on their reading and writing skills, based on their current reading level. I would implement these softwares in my class because they are very user friendly for teachers and students, and allows the students to have fun while they practice their lessons.

  1. Twitter is such a cool resource to use in classrooms. I definitely see it being used with older students in high school and college. I opens up communication and conversation is a slightly anonymous format.

    1. Definitely! I can see myself using it in a teaching environment as chat room where students can interact with other students and myself at a faster rate, to ask questions about the class and assignments.

ILP "Design" - Class Dogo

The link below gives an inside look into the resource, Class Dogo. Class Dogo is a website and app that allows teachers to share with their students, parents, and school leaders what they have going on in their classroom. Teachers can make posts, message parents, and assign work, all on class dogo. When I first heard about class dogo, through the grapevine, it sounded cool. However, it was not until I actually tried it for myself that I realized how useful, effective, and interactive, the app is, how much it does the same to make the classroom more interactive and communication with the parents more effective. In the link provided below, I show you how you can add your class and connect with your parents through messages and your story. I believe that class dogo is an awesome resource.  I recommend it to all teachers. https://voicethread.com/share/12190585/

ILP "Participation - Teacher Interview"

For this  voice thread , I decided to not go on lnyda.com or MOOC because instead of testing something out for myself, I wanted to see what the professionals were actually doing. For such reason, I decided to interview a 1st grade teacher on her use of technology in the classroom. I interviewed a first grade teacher because I currently work close with that grade level and may be interested in teaching elementary one day. I was surprised by many of my discoveries of the educational technology being used in elementary school, and how it is fairly similar to some of the technology used in college. Take a look! https://voicethread.com/share/12396638/

Diigo so far has been a great tool and resource to use to share links and web resources. Diigo has been also a great tool to use when to look up other resources. With Diigo you can look for references using several different tags, separating them using quotations. Once you have found a resource that has been started that is relevant to you, you can see what others have posted or commented that stood out about the site. All of these points that I have covered is the reason that Diigo would be and effective and efficient for team members, classmates in a group. Diigo allows for users to create groups. In these groups, resources are only shared amongst group members. Powerpoint is a very useful tool and can be used to support learning at each level of Bloom's Taxonomy. To implement the first level, remembering, I would show my 2nd grade math class, a link to a video that would help them remember their multiplication facts. For the second level, understand, I would upload an image of...
