Most schools have teacher sites on their school website. These teacher sites allows for individuals to go on the school website to gather more information on the teachers, rather than just information on the school. For the purpose of this blog I went on to the website of Oak Ridge Elementary school in Tallahassee, FL, since I work there after school. Oak Ridge Elementary has many links to different teachers. Each teacher’s has a welcome page, a meet the teacher, student resources, announcements, assignments, important documents and a class calendar. Although Oak Ridge Elementary has these links available, no teacher has any information on their page. For instance, , many of my students are students in Ms. Parramore’e 2nd grade class. However, when I click on Ms. Parramore’s page there was no information available, but, I am also not sure if parents who sign in are privy to more information. Attached is a link to the page and a screenshot.

In today's age we are surrounded by many advances in technology that assist us to do the tasks in our day to day lives. Technology like such are known as assistive technology. I envision using technology to accomplish my goal as a facilitator to keep my student's parents connected to what is going on in the classroom. One assistive technology that I learned about and would like to use in the future is class dojo. I really enjoy how Class dojo allows for teachers to involve parents in the classroom. I would use class dojo to message the parents and keep them update on class announcements and how their children are performing in class.
Last week, I took a trip to FSU's College of Education's Technology Sandbox. At the Sandbox I encountered different technology that can be used in the classroom. One piece of technology that I enjoyed and believe would be very effective in the classroom was the ClearTouch screen. The ClearTouch is like a large iPad that children can work on by playing different educational games. One of Clear Touch's cool characteristics that it is capable of split screens, allowing the screen to be split in half so two students can use this piece of technology at the same time to do different things. The Clear Touch screen can also be adjusted to fit a student's height. Below is an image of two students using ClearTouch for the first time.
