I believe that as a teacher, I would use data collection (surveys) in order to see how the students feel about the classroom. I believe using data collection would also be beneficial to find out where the students are in their level of understanding. I could ask the students to answer using a scale of 1-5 to judge their understanding. This will tell me if I am able to move on from a unit. Data collection I believe would also be best used if I had a 2nd grade math class because math results usually are in a numerical form. The topic I found most interesting from reviewing my classmates’ blog, was Gabby’s ILP Design on Google Classroom. I found Gaby’s VoiceThread on Google Classroom because it was one of the only topics that I  was not familiar with. Gabby’s VoiceThread enlightened me on Google Classroom and showed me that it is very easy to use and even similar to Canvas. I like how Google Classroom has the class calendar that can show due dates, and also has a tab to stream. ...

ILP "Participation - Teacher Interview"

For this  voice thread , I decided to not go on lnyda.com or MOOC because instead of testing something out for myself, I wanted to see what the professionals were actually doing. For such reason, I decided to interview a 1st grade teacher on her use of technology in the classroom. I interviewed a first grade teacher because I currently work close with that grade level and may be interested in teaching elementary one day. I was surprised by many of my discoveries of the educational technology being used in elementary school, and how it is fairly similar to some of the technology used in college. Take a look! https://voicethread.com/share/12396638/

A flipped classroom is a strategy of blended learning that does not use the traditional person to person approach to learning. In a flipped classroom, instructional material and learning is delivered online, outside of the classroom. I was introduced to flipped classrooms in high school when Broward County schools required high school students to take an online class to graduate. For me, the experience was definitely a new one as I was not used to doing work on a computer, being more of a hands on person. I believe that a flipped classroom may no be ideal for all types of learning, but comes with many advantages, like online distance learning. Some online courses, unlike the one I took with Broward County, are open educational resources. An open educational resource is an online resource that anyone can use, usually free, increase their knowledge, and access to different resources. The online class I took with Broward County schools, is not an open educational resource because it was...

Diigo so far has been a great tool and resource to use to share links and web resources. Diigo has been also a great tool to use when to look up other resources. With Diigo you can look for references using several different tags, separating them using quotations. Once you have found a resource that has been started that is relevant to you, you can see what others have posted or commented that stood out about the site. All of these points that I have covered is the reason that Diigo would be and effective and efficient for team members, classmates in a group. Diigo allows for users to create groups. In these groups, resources are only shared amongst group members. Powerpoint is a very useful tool and can be used to support learning at each level of Bloom's Taxonomy. To implement the first level, remembering, I would show my 2nd grade math class, a link to a video that would help them remember their multiplication facts. For the second level, understand, I would upload an image of...

My experience on Twitter so far has been a learning journey. With my EME Twitter account I have been exploring other accounts that pertain to teaching and working with children, since I am majoring in family and child science. One thing about my Twitter experience that I have enjoyed is being able to see the different things that teachers do with their students. One thing that I have especially enjoyed was how creative teachers got to promote black history month. Many teachers decorated their doors to look like black students and celebrities. Many others also used their doors and bulletin boards to fill them up with information about black individuals whom made history, besides MLK, Rosa Parks, and Malcolm X. Working on the web design was definitely an experience. Initially, I was very nervous about this assignment because I have always assumed it to be a difficult process. However, with Weebly, the process was very easy. Through Weebly, I learned how to build and design webpages....

Most schools have teacher sites on their school website. These teacher sites allows for individuals to go on the school website to gather more information on the teachers, rather than just information on the school. For the purpose of this blog I went on to the website of Oak Ridge Elementary school in Tallahassee, FL, since I work there after school. Oak Ridge Elementary has many links to different teachers. Each teacher’s has a welcome page, a meet the teacher, student resources, announcements, assignments, important documents and a class calendar. Although Oak Ridge Elementary has these links available, no teacher has any information on their page. For instance, , many of my students are students in Ms. Parramore’e 2nd grade class. However, when I click on Ms. Parramore’s page there was no information available, but, I am also not sure if parents who sign in are privy to more information. Attached is a link to the page and a screenshot. https://www.leonschools.net/Page/9754 I...
